As the rate of baggage pilferage increases at airports across the world, and
flight delays are becoming the norm and not the exception, 1Time Airlines has
recognized the growing need for travel insurance to cover these types of
problems. As a result, the airline has launched a new travel insurance product,
underwritten by AIG South Africa.

"With the growing need for passengers to cover themselves against baggage
pilferage at South African airports and other related risks, which are beyond
the control of the airlines, 1Time has taken the initiative in arranging a
travel insurance product which is underwritten by AIG South Africa Ltd.," said
the Chief Executive Officer of 1Time Airlines, Rodney James. "Once again, it is
a first for the South African airline industry and who better to offer it than
ourselves as we are constantly the leaders in aviation innovation."
The new travel insurance covers a wide variety of options, including flight
delays. The company will pay R375 for every six hours that a scheduled flight
fails to take off, and will also cover flight cancellation in certain cases.
Taking out the 1Time Airline travel insurance has been designed to be as
simple and hassle-free as possible. Travelers simply access the airline's
website and choose the insurance option under the company's 'Bells and Whistles'
services options, which also offers them the opportunity to purchase catering
vouchers.
By offering travelers the option to purchase the insurance directly, the
company has managed to keep prices competitive, beginning at R25 per journey
leg.
As soon as the insurance purchase is made, 1Time contacts AIG who will send a
confirmation note to the traveller.
"We're very excited about this offering, as it offers our passengers another
innovative product to make their travels 'more nice, less price'," said Rodney
James.
