Shoprite, with Metropolitan Cover2Go, has created a new funeral insurance
policy that promises to remove the confusion surrounding this type of coverage.
Shoprite's new Cashback Funeral Policy has been designed so that consumers can
understand exactly what they are purchasing, with the added? feature of paying
the consumer back in full in no claims were made in the past five years.
The 'off-the-shelf' insurance policy complements other convenient financial
services offered by Shoprite in the hundreds of stores across the country,
including utility payment, air time purchase and in-store money transfer. All
consumers need to do is purchase the funeral insurance policy at the checkout of
any Shoprite store and then activate it at their leisure at any of the Money
Matters counters in the store.
Consumers simply have to turn up at the store every month for a period of
five years in order to make their payments and, when that time period is up,
they will receive all their money back.
The Chief Executive Officer of Metropolitan Cover2Go, Derek Pead said:
"Cover2Go has partnered with Shoprite to give South Africans very affordable
funeral cover that is backed by a trusted name, Metropolitan, but designed to
respond to people's day to day needs. The majority of South Africans want
trustworthy, reputable funeral cover, but feel excluded by the more traditional
insurance companies' requirements for a bank account, or for them to go to an
insurance broker. We can provide insurance products at very low costs because we
use technology and non traditional delivery channels to reach the market."
The insurance company believes that the cash back element is crucial to the
success of the brand, as it gives consumers long terms benefits, while also safe
in the knowledge that they are covered should the need arise.
