Conference to tackle disease in SA The conference entitled 'Burden of Disease Today' is in its third year
|
July 21 and 22 will see the third annual Burden of Disease Today
conference held at the Sunnyside Park Hotel, Parktown, Johannesburg.
The conference deals with an issue that has become even more pertinent in the
current economic meltdown - that of the impact of diseases on South Africa's
economy and healthcare system.
The conference begins with the assumption that disease is something that
South Africa simply cannot afford, especially at this time.
The event will delve into ways that South Africans can help minimize the
impact of disease, through the health care system, insurance industry,
government bodies and so forth.
According to the organizers of the Burden of Disease Today conference, the
event will deal with the impact of communicable and non communicable diseases on
South Africans.
A variety of local and international speakers will introduce the subject from
their own personal fields and look at how diseases affect patients and providers
alike.
Workshops in the conference include 'Tracking the Health Related Millennium
Development Goals' and 'What are the Drivers and Reasons for the High Rate of
Trauma in South Africa?"
Also to be discussed is 'How Successful is South Africa in Decreasing
Communicable Diseases?'
