Santam has offered Computer Risk Cover to SA teachers This is after the DoBE offered allowance to teachers to buy laptops.

Santam, one of South Africa's leading insurance providers, has offered
a unique all risk cover to over 350,000 teachers who received an allowance to
purchase laptops.
The allowance was awarded by the Department of Basic Education through its
Teacher Laptop Initiative, with the objective of providing all teachers with a
monthly allowance to cover internet connectivity and the cost of the actual
laptop.
Santam's offer includes very competitive premium prices to cover loss and/or
damage to the laptops.
"We applaud the DoBE for acknowledging the importance of internet access for
teachers in order to obtain additional information for their learners," said Dr.
Nolwandle Mbalo, the Head of Network Solutions at Santam.
"The teachers who qualify for the initiative are entitled to a R130 subsidy
per month from the Department of Education which will include insurance from
Santam," he said.
The main aim of the initiative is to ensure that all teachers have access to
the very latest information and learning tools. It is hoped that by providing
teachers with the information to their fingertips, they will be able to improve
the quality of education in South Africa and create an atmosphere of
appreciation for education among pupils.
The new initiative is also a good chance for Santam to enter a non
traditional market and increase its visibility in the public sector market
dominated by teaching staff.
