The South African Business Research Evaluation test results were revealed this week, showing that many business leaders are still positive about South Africa in general.
The survey is released every two years and targets professionals and managers in South Africa's business environment.
Looking at individual businesses, Old Mutual and Discovery Life share the title for being the preferred service providers in their field.
Outsurance is seen as the favoured short term insurance service provider.
Other interesting facts noted in the SABRE evaluation included:
- Nokia remains the leader in an otherwise saturated cell phone market. Its market share is currently 57%, down significantly from the impressive 82% in 2003.
- Vodacom narrowly takes the title as the leading network company in the market.
- 44% of respondents said that they banked at Absa. The second favourite bank is FNB (which overtook Standard Bank from two years ago).
In the optimism field, out of those who expressed that they were positive about South Africa's business environment (58%), 71% were black and 47% white.
62% of respondents said that their businesses were doing better than they were a year ago, and 72% said that they predicted that their businesses would do better in a year.
The majority of businessmen read the Sunday Times Business Times and use it as their primary source of information.
